Swargate is a locality in Pune, Maharashtra, said to be the important center of transport. Not so famous for any other thing, it is mostly the abode to one of the city’s and the region’s largest bus stations, which connects many areas of the city and regions, thereby becoming a locality junction of local commuters as well as travelers. Swargate Bus Station is one of the main entry points to many tourist places in Maharashtra, mainly Mahabaleshwar and Lonavala.
It is not just a transit point; it is full of life. Streets are highly laden with multitudinous shops, restaurants, and markets, providing everything from local snacks to handicrafts. Being a foodie for the streets, I was indeed lucky to taste some of the famous cuisines of Pune at Swargate, like misal pav and vada pav that filled my stomach with cheer.
There are also a number of attractions near this location. For the culture and history enthusiast, Parvati Hill and temple is just around the corner. Since it is on a hill, a good view of the city is enjoyed while one takes a sneak peek into the heritage of Pune. Not too far is the Dagdusheth Halwai Ganapati Temple, an iconic religious site that attracts devotees as well as tourists.
Swargate is also close to the lively markets and malls for shopping purposes. Several local products, traditional clothes, and jewelry can also be purchased by visitors.
Also, the locality is well-connected with the local transport option of auto-rickshaw and metro of Pune, thus improving its connectivity.
