Solapur is a city in the southern Indian state of Maharashtra. It is an administrative headquarters for the Solapur district and is considered historically, culturally, and industrially important.

    Handicrafts: Besides textiles, Solapur is also very popular in its traditional handicrafts, such as Solapur Chappal, the footwear made of leather and fabric. They are used all over the country very much.

    Solapur is located in a hot semi-arid climate with the extreme hot summer and the moderate monsoon condition but very cold winter months. As it is geographically located at the peak of solapure has been observing more hot climate in all summers but receives moderate conditions because of rainy seasons with rains.

    There are educational institutions like schools, colleges, and technical institutes. Some of the institutions are: Solapur University, offering undergraduate and postgraduate courses in arts, science, commerce, and engineering, among others.
