Average step in one kilometer
on average:
Men take about 1,250 to 1,300 steps to walk 1 km.
Women take about 1,300 to 1,400 steps to walk 1 km.
It is based on an average straight length of about 0.75 to 0.8 m.

Many things can affect how many steps you take in a kilometer:
- Height and leg length
Longer people have long legs and usually have long progress – which means less steps to cover the same distance.
- Walking vs
While walking, your progress is small, so you will take more steps.
While running, your stride becomes long, so take less steps to cover 1 km (about 900ā1,100 steps).
- motion
Walking faster than a slow walk may increase your strid length slightly.
- Area
Walking on top or uneven ground can reduce your strid and increase your step count.
