With the following steps in detail, one can log on through the GST portal of India to proceed further:
Access GST Portal: The GST website is accessed by using your web browser located on www.gst.gov.in. This would serve as a central portal for all activities related to GST.
Login Section: On the opening page, click on the ‘Login’ button, which is usually placed on the upper right-hand side corner. Clicking on it takes you to the login page.
Enter Credentials: Enter the User Name along with the password. Your user name would usually be your GST Identification Number. That is, the GSTIN or the Email ID you have used while registering. Enter your password in the space provided that is asking for it.
Fill the Captcha: In order to keep the logins limited to humans, you’ll be required to fill up the CAPTCHA code provided in your screen.
Click ‘Login’: You will have to fill up all the information you were provided with and then click ‘Login’ to log in to your account.
Two-Factor Authentication: Sometime, you would be prompted for another authentication step. It can even involve OTP or a one-time password received through SMS and e-mail on your mobile number or e-mail address. Enter the OTP to continue the login process.
Access Your Dashboard After a successful login, you will be redirected to your dashboard where you can see and manage your GST filing, check returns, and more.
If you do encounter some error when trying to login, first take care that your login credentials are correct. If having forgotten your password, then you can take assistance in resetting your login through the “Forgot Password” link. Take persistent problems to the GST hotline. Keep your login information safe so that nobody else gets access to your relevant GST information.
