10 Essential Facts About UPSC

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) is a supreme constitutional body of appointed as per the Article 315 to 323 of Part XIV of the Constitution of India to recruit officers for various Government services. It organizes Civil Services Examination (CSE), one of the most rigorous exam.

First, UPSC organizes Civil Services Exam to recruit officers for premier services such as IAS, IPS, IFS and other Group A and B services. They are policy-makers and administrators of great importance.

Second, the examination has three distinct stages : (a) Preliminary Examination (Objective type) for the selection of candidates for Main Examination b)b(Main ex aminiat Main Examination and c) Personality Test/interview.

Third, the examination of UPSC occurs only once in a year. The notification is generally published in February, and the examination spans over about a year.

Fourth, the applicants should have done a graduation in any stream from any university.

V.Fifth – The age limit for General category shall be 21 to 32 years with lesage as per govt., Rule fellow for OBC and SC/ST candidates.

VI; There is a restriction on the number of attempts: 6 for General, 9 for OBC and no limit within age range for SC/ST candidates.

VII.The Mains exam also in addition have a optional subject.

8The competition is intense. Approx 10-12 lakh aspirants apply for the exam each year but only about 800-1000 candidates are finally selected.

Ninth – the remaining service allocation depends on your rank, preference and vacancy (IAS, IPS, IFS..etc.)
